AAD2 is an Album-A-Day project by Andrew, Dylan, Jack, Josh. This is Andrew and Josh’s second Album-A-Day project. We ended up on that name because nobody could decide on something. Oh well.
Personnel:
- Andrew Jensen: Keys, Drums, Percussion, Electronics, Computer Programming
- Dylan Taylor: Electric Guitar, Electronics
- Jack Barton: Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, Voice
- Josh Asplund: Bass Guitar, Electronics
Tracks:
- Agent Honey-Q
We recorded this before Dylan arrived. Andrew really wanted a spy song. A great (stupid) inside joke came out of this track. - Phanphayre
Another lengthy (but cool!) jam. We sat down to sequence the stupid synth part at the beginning, but the rest was a free improv. Please note the extreme change in tempo during the song! - Thank You, James
Our tribute to James Brown. We actually multi-tracked and produced this track!! - The Odyssey
This song pokes fun at a Guitar Hero loading screen that warns against “20-minute jazz odysseys.” At exactly 20 minutes, you can hear Jack say, “it’s 20 minutes,” after which the song (quite literally) comes screeching to a halt. Since this song turned out so hard to listen to, we’ll include the warning here too. Warning! This is a 20-minute free-improv “jazz” odyssey. You don’t have to listen to all of it if you don’t want to. In my opinion, the best moments in the track are:- 4:45 – Dylan’s awesome riff
- 10:55 – Andrew and Jack combine forces
- 13:00 – Listen for the Nintendo synth and choir!
- 15:05 – The return to madness
- 20:00 – “It’s 20 minutes.” Listen for the timer on the kitchen microwave.
- 4:45 – Dylan’s awesome riff
Total Time: 40:01

Cool!
You should have a more interesting name like yad-a-mubla. That’s album-a-day spelled backwords. Og Werdna (go andrew).

Yeah, well…. I guess we could have called the album a lot of things. There was a general lack of decision-making on everyone’s part. That’s probably why we ended up improvising almost everything on it! You’ll notice the group name sounds very VERY similar to the group on the last Album-A-Day project. It’s just too hard to decide!

I like the spelling of “Phanphayre”. How is it supposed to be pronounced?
