A New Album-A-Day Finished!!!

That’s right, three exclamation marks. On Saturday, May 31, I did another Album-A-Day project. The Lineup this time was interesting – Guitar, Bass, Sax, and Electronics.  I’d say the music turned out more “refined” this time – we had a better idea of what we were doing. So the music turned out fun and the pizza was good too!

Some more music!

On Friday, May 16, Sam Morris came over and we recorded some hot licks. Several hours’ worth, in fact! I’ve just finished editing out all possible imperfections (sarcasm) in the improv’s, so here they are!

Tracks:

  1. Procrastination Policy
The title is a reference to my English teacher’s late work policy…
  2. Random Access Sunroof
A Drum N Bass jam. I like how the high, echo-ey effects turned out.
  3. CMC
See if you can guess the acronym. Old School rap. John F. Kennedy did the vocals.
  4. Play that Beat, Mallow Man
This one makes me feel happy. No idea how Sam came up with this title! The looping was a little more ambitious in this track.
  5. Prozac
A dark ambient piece. See “Ambient” from the Running With Scizzors album.
  6. Daisy Frolic
Deep House Techno mixed with Bluegrass. Bluehouse? Deepgrass?
  7. Stay in School
    Freely improvised 80′s arena rock.

Lineup:

  • Sam Morris: Electric Guitar
  • Andrew Jensen: Electronics

We can’t just tell you the group’s name. My dad thinks it’s inflammatory (and he threatened to remove this blog altogether), so I won’t publish it here.

TubaTronix jams are online!

I have just put some of the better sounding TubaTronix improvisations on the TubaTronix Page. You’ll find 5 songs (over an hour!) in a pretty wide range of styles. Enjoy!

Another Album-a-Day project planned…

I am planning on recording another Album-a-Day on Saturday, May 31st.  I’m shooting for a much “dancier” sound, with some jazz/funk/R&B goodness in there.  If you want to be involved, let me know soon!!!

First Performance by TubaTronix!

On Tuesday, May 13th, Andrew and Joe suited up and played a show for a young men’s group.  At home.  The show was a tremendous success!  We played 3 songs with frequent questions in between.  We even managed to make some music with a Dance Dance Revolution mat at the beginning!  Thanks to everyone that came out and listened.  I think we managed to get everyone to participate and to have a good time.  We were passing around a gamepad and stomping on the DDR mat…it was lots of fun!

Expect some mp3′s soon!  I wasn’t able to record much of the show, but the secret TubaTronix vault has some good takes in there…As soon as School stops killing me, you should be able to hear some of that!
