While I was at work last week, Carol took the boys to see the Beijing Bell and Drum towers. They are fascinating and beautiful buildings that once served a vital purpose in telling time for the city. It’s a popular destination that is often surrounded by tour buses.
Anyway, when they went to enter the drum tower, a group of people with cameras and recording equipment approached them and asked for an interview.
It turns out that the people were from China’s CCTV10 station, and they were recording a segment about foreigners visiting Beijing before the Olympics! They interviewed Carol and the boys briefly, and told them that they might be on CCTV10’s show called “Quai Lai Beijing!” It will be shown at 12:00 and 7:00 on June 26. We don’t know whether they’ll actually make the show, but we’re hoping they will.

As an interesting side note, we were heading to church on Sunday when Andrew suddenly saw the American host of that show boarding our subway car! He said hi, and we had a fun discussion with him while we traveled together for a few stops. It’s very strange how a city of maybe 20 million people can still be such a small world.
