Nick is a genius!

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

He fixed my MP3 player for me!  It didn’t work, and now it does because he took it apart and re-soldered the headphone jack and now it works like a charm!  Go Nick!

Trip to Florida

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

The day after returning from the Grand Canyon, I had to go on a business trip to Florida. It was warm and humid there, and we had meetings all day. It wasn’t a very fun trip, but I was able to accomplish what I went to do. I was gone for four days… It’s good to be back home again!

Mother’s Day

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

The last day of my Grand Canyon trip was also Mother’s Day.  Since I knew we should do the trip that weekend, I arranged for our family to celebrate Mother’s Day one week early.  We gave Carol some presents, made her some cards, and tried our best to help her know that we love her.  We also took some gifts to my mother.

On the real Mother’s Day, while I was out of town, Carol had to give a talk in Church!  What a Mother’s Day present!  It was very frightening for her, because she had to speak to such a huge group, but it sounds like her talk was excellent.  She’s an excellent teacher and leader, even if it’s frightening sometimes.

During the Grand Canyon trip, I was able to find some high quality turquoise beads to bring back for her, so at least she got something unique for that Mother’s Day.  It was probably not her favorite Mother’s Day ever.  But I’m grateful for her patience, kindness, and love.  Carol is truly an exceptional mother, and I’m grateful for all that she does.

Grand Canyon Trip

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

I went to the Grand Canyon with 13 Chinese coworkers last weekend! Most were from our Beijing office, but one of them has been in North America for several years, so she was able to translate and help everyone be comfortable. She was also able to help drive. This was a very long trip – about 10 hours of driving each way – but we saw an Indian city, some dinosaur tracks, the town where many Western movies were filmed, Bryce Canyon, and the Grand Canyon. We took three days to do it because there were so many things to see. My favorite parts of the trip were staying up late to discuss culture and traditions with some of the men and learning several Chinese traditional stories that I had never heard before.

This was a lot of fun! I enjoyed spending time with some good people, learning some new things, and showing them some interesting things.

Lawn Mowing Jacob

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

This is Jacob.  On the 9th I (Jacob) mowed the backyard.  My mom wondered if I was tall enough.  But we decided that I was tall enough.  I mowed the backyard.  I did a good job.
